5 Beauty Trends We’re Over

From heavy contouring to glazed everything, these are the trends we’re putting to rest this year.
The thing about trends? They’re fleeting. What feels fresh one season can look overdone the next. Lately, there’s a shift toward looks that feel softer, easier, and a little more natural. Skin that looks like skin, hair with movement, and makeup that enhances instead of hides. We’re saying goodbye to a few beauty trends that have officially run their course—and what’s replacing them.
Over-laminated brows
Lamination isn’t going anywhere—it’s one of the most requested brow services out there. But the finish has changed. The ultra-shiny, pressed-flat look is giving way to softer, more natural styling with a little texture and movement.
Over-lined lips
There’s a fine line between enhancing and erasing your shape. Heavy over-lining can throw off proportions (and while it may look like fuller lips in pictures; over-ling looks obvious in person). We’re loving a diffused, blurred finish—still defined, but softer and more natural-looking.
Extreme contouring
The heavy, sculpted look had its run. Now it’s about subtle warmth placed higher on the face—where the sun would actually hit—not stripes under your cheekbones.
Over-styled waves
The uniform, barrel-curled look has loosened up. Softer bends, brushed ends, and a bit of texture feel cooler and more modern.
Glazed everything
We love glow, but not every surface needs to look like a glazed donut. The new glow is more lived-in: think subtle sheen across the high points, hydrated skin, and radiance that looks lit-from-within, not lacquered on.
Trends evolve, and most eventually circle back. Still, a few are better left in the archives.
