September is when beauty begins to deepen with richer color, moodier finishes, and a little more drama. Here are a few things catching my attention right now.
A Darker Cowboy Copper
Cowboy copper first showed up in 2023, but the fall 2026 version is darker and more sophisticated. Instead of the bright, golden-orange auburn we saw the first time around, this season’s take beings with a rich brunette base with dark copper, cinnamon, and mahogany tones throughout. The result is glossy, dimensional, and more wearable for someone who wants warmth without looking overly red. This stunning shade is by Samantha Grover, owner of Signature Salon in Yaphank.
Fall’s Vineyard Nails
Burgundy and olive are two of fall’s biggest nail colors, and this manicure, created by DIY nail artist @dips_drips_diamonds brings them together in a stunning. way. The wine-colored base and olive-gold magnetic shimmer mimic the multidimensional sheen of grape skin as it catches the light.
Lipstick is back
After seasons of sheer oils, balms, and barely-there tints, a proper lipstick feels powerful again. This fall, saturated berry shades — plum, blackberry, wine, and garnet — are all worn with fresh skin and minimal eye makeup, allowing the lip to carry the entire look. I’ve been loving the Merit Signature Lip Lightweight Lip Blush in Framboise, $28.
