Tried It: ICOONE, the High-Tech Body Treatment
The non-invasive treatment is designed to smooth skin, reduce puffiness and stimulate lymphatic drainage. Here's what happened when I tried it.
The Italian body treatment is available at Blue Water Spa in both Oyster Bay and Southampton.
Summer has a way of making us pay a little more attention to our skin—not just from the neck up, but from the neck down. Whether it's shorts, swimsuits or sundresses, this is the time of year many of us start looking for ways to smooth the appearance of cellulite, reduce puffiness and give our body skin a little extra TLC. So when I had the opportunity to try ICOONE at Blue Water Spa, a non-invasive body treatment that's designed to stimulate lymphatic drainage and improve the appearance of cellulite, I was curious to see what it was all about.
What Is ICOONE?
Originally developed in Italy, ICOONE uses motorized rollers and gentle suction to massage the skin and underlying connective tissue. It's designed to stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage while improving skin texture and the appearance of cellulite. Over a series of treatments, it's also intended to help contour the body.
Unlike some body-contouring treatments that rely on heat, freezing or muscle contractions, ICOONE is essentially a mechanical massage, which also happens to be one of its biggest selling points.
What the Treatment Is Like
Before the treatment, I changed into a thin gray bodysuit, which allows the handpieces to glide smoothly over the skin. My provider then worked methodically over different areas of my body using handheld rollers that gently lifted, rolled and massaged the tissue.
The sensation surprised me. I expected something more intense, but it felt more like a deep tissue massage with rhythmic suction than an aggressive body treatment. There was enough pressure that I could feel it working, but it never crossed into painful territory. In fact, I found it incredibly relaxing.
Because the treatment is designed to encourage lymphatic drainage, the movements are deliberate and repetitive, almost meditative. If you're someone who enjoys a good massage, you'll probably appreciate ICOONE for the experience alone.
My First Impressions
It's important to note that one treatment isn't enough to evaluate whether ICOONE delivers its longer-term body-contouring or cellulite-reducing claims. Most providers recommend a series of sessions to see those types of results.
After one appointment, though, I did notice a few things. I felt less puffy, especially through my midsection and thighs, and my skin looked a little smoother. Whether that was the immediate effect of lymphatic drainage, improved circulation or simply the result of a really good massage, I can't say with certainty, but I walked out feeling lighter, refreshed and very relaxed.
Would I Do It Again?
Absolutely. I’m curious to see if continued sessions lead to smoother-looking skin or subtle contouring over time. But even after one visit, I understood why people incorporate ICOONE into their wellness routines.
