The East End's Newest Spa Escape

Known for luxury botanical formulas and rituals, Tammy Fender arrives in Shelter Island.

A couple of years ago, I experienced a Tammy Fender facial at the Tammy Fender Spa inside the Opal Grand Resort in Delray Beach, and it was a luxurious experience from start to finish. For more than 25 years, Tammy Fender has been creating botanical-based skincare that blends herbalism, aromatherapy, and traditional plant remedies. Her signature hands-on facial rituals have earned her a devoted following as a holistic skincare pioneer.

Fender’s two spa locations are in South Florida—the flagship in West Palm Beach and another in Delray Beach. But through Labor Day, you can experience a Tammy Fender treatment much closer to home: on Shelter Island.

Tammy Fender is bringing her spa experience to The Pridwin, a waterfront resort that has been welcoming guests to the island since 1927. For the residency, Fender created a menu of bespoke facials and holistic massage treatments designed to bring her Palm Beach wellness philosophy to the East End. I had the opportunity to experience the Tammy Fender Signature Facial (and stay overnight at the property), and it delivered the same deeply restorative experience I remembered from Delray Beach.

Before the facial begins, you’re invited to smell a selection of essential oils and choose the scents you’re most drawn to. Your esthetician then incorporates them into your personalized treatment. The facial is tailored to your skin’s needs with a mix of botanical serums, luxurious clays, and floral essences. My skin had an immediate radiance, but the experience was just as much about relaxation as results.

Afterward, I was greeted with a warm cup of golden milk, an Ayurvedic-inspired drink traditionally made with turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, milk, and a touch of honey.

Beyond the treatment itself, The Pridwin makes the perfect summer escape. During my stay, I enjoyed delicious meals and cocktails, s’mores made with homemade marshmallows, a scenic boat ride, and plenty of time lounging by the pool while taking in the waterfront views. The getaway felt relaxing from the moment I arrived.

If you’re looking for an alternative to the Hamptons this summer, Shelter Island is worth the ferry ride—and a Tammy Fender treatment at The Pridwin is the perfect addition to your itinerary.

After smelling all those oils, I landed on lavender, lemongrass, and mint — a mix of calming and invigorating.

After my facial with Amy Branum from Tammy Fender, my skin was smooth and glowy.

After my treatment, I sat in a quiet lounge with my cup of golden milk.
