More than a Medspa: Balanced Health & Wellness is an oasis for mind-body care.

Balanced Health & Wellness in Wading River isn’t your typical medspa—it’s where modern science meets genuine care. From the moment you walk in, you’re more than just a name on a chart.

“We want to know exactly what the patient wants out of life,” says founder Matthew Rutman, MD, as they hand you a straightforward intake form focused on what really matters: your energy, mood, and overall well-being.

Instead of ticking off symptoms on autopilot, you’ll dig into questions about sleep quality, stress levels, and even your gut health. “We want to know what part of their life is lacking; and if they’re feeling fatigued, a decreased sex drive, brain fog,” says Dr. Rutman. “We can address certain aspects of their life through blood work, conversation, and even with some easy behavioral modifications and simple supplements.”

Beyond “Normal”

At Balanced Health & Wellness, “normal” isn’t always enough. Dr. Rutman and his wife and co-founder Neeta Mitchell, RN, are all about finding your personal “optimal”—whether that means tweaking hormone levels, dialing in nutrient gaps, or exploring advanced therapies like GLP-1s and NAD+ injections. It’s a targeted approach designed to help you feel—and function—at your best.

Most doctors declare you “fine” if you fall within standard ranges in bloodwork. But in functional medicine, sometimes the normal range is not normal, says Dr. Rutman. That means if your vitamin D or thyroid levels are technically okay, they’re looking at where you land in the spectrum, considering how you’re feeling, and asking, “Could you feel even better if we aimed higher?” he says.

The Mind-Body Connection

Keeping tabs on the latest technology, Balanced Health & Wellness is one of the first facilities on Long Island to invest in the ExoMind machine. This FDA-approved noninvasive device uses Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) technology to stimulate specific brain areas. This stimulation helps to improve mood, emotional regulation, and cognitive function. It’s said to help with mood, depression, brain fog, binge-eating, and other impulse-driven behaviors. (Pretty Local is currently trialing ExoMind and will report back soon!)

Weight Loss Meets Wellness

If you’ve heard buzz around GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide, Mitchell explains why they’re a game-changer: “They offer weight-loss benefits and powerful anti-inflammatory properties.” Inflammation, it turns out, is at the root of so many chronic issues—from joint aches to sluggish cognition. Balanced Health & Wellness won’t just send you home with a script; they guide you through the process, including pairing each GLP-1 plan with muscle-saving supplements so you lose fat, not strength.

Injectables and Infusions Tailored to You

Many patients next turn to targeted injectables and IV drips, whether as a standalone boost or in tandem with GLP-1s. They’re another way to fill nutrient gaps, speed recovery, or revitalize.

  • NAD+ injections for cellular repair and next-level energy.

  • Vitamin IV drips loaded with vitamin C, zinc, glutathione, or anti-nausea meds—perfect for everything from a post-vacation pick-me-up to migraine relief.

  • Low-dose naltrexone for chronic pain and inflammation.

Injectable peptides aren’t just for weight loss. The small chains of amino acids can address other goals, from sleep to skin to sex drive. “We use a peptide called PT-141—an FDA-approved injectable for female sexual dysfunction that works for up to 48 hours,” says Dr. Rutman. There’s also a growth-hormone–releasing peptide that, over six months, can give you shinier hair, stronger nails, and deeper sleep.

Aesthetics with a Functional Twist

Craving an external glow to match how you feel inside? Many clients couple their internal protocols with noninvasive aesthetic treatments, so the outside truly reflects their inner vitality, says Mitchell. Some of their offerings include:

  • PRX facials are the latest buzz in biostimulators. This topical treatment stimulates collagen without needles. “You’re usually good for about a year after four sessions,” she says.

  • RF microneedling (Morpheus8) to tighten skin after weight loss or simply firm aging areas.

  • PRP/PRF joint, skin, and hair treatments that harness your own growth factors for faster healing, younger-looking skin, and thicker hair.

  • Botox and fillers to rejuvenate the appearance of your skin.

No matter which path—or combination of treatments—you explore at Balance Health & Wellness, you can rest easy knowing an emergency-medicine board-certified physician and skilled nursing team are right there beside you. The family-owned business prides itself on personal care and attention. “We always say that every patient that comes in becomes part of our family,” says Dr. Rutman.
