Everyone’s Talking About PRX. Here’s Why.
The topical treatment is getting glowing reviews for its glass skin results.
If you follow a lot of beauty pros and influencers on social media, you may have seen or heard a thing about PRX Derm Perfexion treatments. What is it? PRX is a topical biostimulator, which means it’s a topical treatment that stimulates collagen production. (For reference, Sculptra is a biostimulator, but it’s injected into the skin.)
PRX is clinically proven to help tighten, tone, and lift the skin, leaving behind an incredible, glass-like glow.
I had the opportunity to try the treatment at Blue Water Spa in Oyster Bay. Owner and master esthetician Rachel Lozina explained to me that the solution is 33 percent TCA, an ingredient commonly used in chemical peels, combined with kojic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The latter helps drive the active ingredients deeper into the skin. It gives you the results of a peel without any downtime. She said my skin may become a little flaky, but I wouldn’t experience the visible peeling that comes with a traditional chemical peel. For that reason, it’s being called the non-peel peel or an invisible peel.
PRX comes in a vial, and it’s applied to skin in small droplets. Your esthetician then massages it into your skin. The whole process takes 15 to 20 minutes. My skin felt a little fiery and got red, but the redness dissipated by the time I got to the car. At home, my skin had a sheen to it and felt sensitive when I touched it.
In the days following, my skin looked radiant and felt smooth. I did get a little flaky in a few spots, mostly my chin and forehead, but if it means brighter skin, I’m OK with that.
It’s recommended that you get four treatments spaced one week apart. I’m going for round two soon. Stay tuned!
One day post-PRX.
