Exomind
EXOMIND is a non-invasive brain-stimulation treatment that uses transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to target areas of the brain involved in mood and emotional regulation. The treatment is designed to support mental well-being and is being studied for potential effects on areas including mood, stress, sleep and eating behaviors.

What Is EXOMIND?
EXOMIND is a non-invasive form of transcranial magnetic stimulation, or TMS. Instead of medication or an invasive procedure, it uses magnetic pulses delivered through a device positioned against the head to stimulate targeted areas of the brain.
EXOMIND treatments target the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex, an area involved in functions including mood regulation, emotional processing and decision-making. Clinical research on the EXOMIND device is ongoing, including studies looking at mental well-being, sleep and stress, and eating behaviors.
How Does EXOMIND Work?
During treatment, the device delivers repeated magnetic pulses to the targeted area of the brain. The goal is to influence activity in neural circuits involved in mood and other brain functions.
It's not an electrical current being sent directly into your brain. Rather, the magnetic pulses create changes in the activity of nerve cells in the targeted area.
The science behind TMS is not new, but EXOMIND is a newer application of this technology focused on mental well-being. Research is still developing around its potential uses and how different treatment protocols may affect outcomes.
What Can EXOMIND Help With?
EXOMIND is being explored for a range of potential applications, including mental well-being, stress, sleep and eating behaviors. ClinicalTrials.gov currently lists studies evaluating EXOMIND for improvement in mental well-being, sleep quality and stress reduction, as well as separate research involving binge eating.
That doesn't mean the treatment is proven to treat all of these concerns. If you're considering EXOMIND for a specific mental-health condition, it's important to discuss whether it's appropriate for you with a qualified medical professional.
What Is an EXOMIND Treatment Like?
The treatment is performed while you're seated or lying comfortably with the device positioned over your head. There's no anesthesia, needles or incisions, and you can remain awake throughout the session.
You'll hear the device working and feel a repetitive tapping or pulsing sensation on your scalp. The sensation isn't painful for me, although it is unusual at first.
Each session at Balanced Health & Wellness takes approximately 25–30 minutes.
What Does EXOMIND Feel Like?
When I tried EXOMIND, the sensation reminded me of a tiny tapping or pulsing on the top of my head. The sound was almost like a woodpecker, with a distinct, repetitive rhythm.
It wasn't painful. In fact, I found the treatment surprisingly relaxing. I used the time to close my eyes and settle into a meditative state, and I nearly fell asleep during my approximately 25-minute session.
What to Expect After EXOMIND
There is no typical downtime associated with the treatment, so you can generally return to your normal activities afterward.
I didn't experience any discomfort or recovery period after my sessions. The most noticeable part for me was actually how relaxed I felt afterward.
As with any treatment involving brain stimulation, individual experiences can vary. Your provider should explain potential side effects and whether EXOMIND is appropriate for you based on your medical history and medications.
When Will You Notice EXOMIND Results?
There isn't a universal timeline for when someone will notice changes. Some people may report differences during a treatment series, while others may notice changes later—or may not experience a meaningful benefit.
For me, the changes became noticeable about halfway through my three-week treatment series. I found myself responding more calmly to stressful situations than I normally would, and I felt less of that familiar pit-in-my-stomach sensation that I associate with anxiety. I also noticed that I was waking up feeling more uplifted.
Those are my personal observations, not a guarantee of what someone else will experience.
How Many EXOMIND Treatments Do You Need?
Treatment protocols can vary depending on the provider and the goal of treatment. Balanced Health & Wellness describes its EXOMIND program as a series completed over approximately three weeks.
The clinical research protocols for EXOMIND have also varied. For example, one completed study evaluating mental well-being used four treatments spaced 5–10 days apart, while a separate study evaluating sleep and stress used six treatments spaced 3–7 days apart.
That makes this a treatment where I'd ask your provider exactly how many sessions they recommend and why.
Does EXOMIND Require Maintenance Treatments?
Maintenance may be recommended after an initial series, depending on your response and goals. Balanced Health & Wellness describes maintenance treatments as a kind of “tune-up,” particularly after periods of significant stress.
There isn't a single maintenance schedule that applies to everyone, so your provider should determine what makes sense for you.
How Much Does EXOMIND Cost?
Average cost: $400 to $600 per single session; $4,800 for six sessions.
Ask whether the price covers an individual session or a complete treatment series, since EXOMIND is typically performed as a course of treatments.
My Experience With EXOMIND
I tried EXOMIND at Balanced Health & Wellness and was curious about the idea of using brain stimulation to support mood and overall mental well-being without medication or a lengthy appointment.
The treatment itself was remarkably easy. I felt a repetitive tapping sensation on the top of my head that wasn't painful, and the sound reminded me of a woodpecker. I actually found the rhythm relaxing enough that I used the time to get into a meditative state and nearly fell asleep.
About halfway through my three-week treatment series, I noticed that I seemed to be responding more calmly to stressful situations. I also felt less anxious overall. The familiar pit-in-my-stomach feeling I tend to associate with anxiety wasn't there, and I noticed that I was waking up feeling more uplifted.
Obviously, one person's experience isn't evidence that everyone will have the same response. But the changes were noticeable enough to me that I understood why someone might be interested in exploring this type of treatment.

Pretty Local Bottom Line
EXOMIND is an intriguing option for anyone interested in exploring non-invasive brain stimulation as part of a broader approach to mental well-being. The treatment itself is easy and requires no downtime, although you'll need to commit to a series of sessions rather than expecting a one-and-done treatment.
My own experience was positive: I found the sessions relaxing, and I noticed changes in how I responded to stress and how I felt when I woke up. But EXOMIND is still an emerging treatment, and the research around its different potential uses is continuing to develop.
This is my personal experience and is intended for informational purposes only. EXOMIND is not appropriate for everyone. Talk with a qualified medical professional about whether TMS is appropriate for you, particularly if you have a neurological or psychiatric condition, take medications, or have an implanted medical device.
