What Is PRX Derm Perfexion?
PRX Derm Perfexion is a topical treatment that combines 33% TCA, kojic acid and hydrogen peroxide. It is sometimes described as a biostimulator because it is designed to stimulate the skin's regenerative processes without being injected.
Unlike a traditional TCA peel, which intentionally exfoliates the outer layers of the skin and can cause visible peeling and downtime, PRX is formulated to work differently. The treatment is applied topically and massaged into the skin, with the goal of stimulating the deeper skin without creating the same degree of surface peeling.
How Does PRX Work?
The treatment combines three key ingredients. TCA is an exfoliating acid that can improve skin texture and brightness, while kojic acid is commonly used to help address uneven pigmentation. Hydrogen peroxide helps facilitate the penetration and activity of the formulation in the skin.

What Does PRX Treat?

What to Expect During a PRX Treatment

When I had PRX at Blue Water Spa, my skin felt a little fiery during the treatment and became red, but the redness had already dissipated by the time I got to my car.
What to Expect After PRX
There's no traditional downtime with PRX, but that doesn't necessarily mean you won't feel anything afterward. My skin had a noticeable sheen after the treatment and felt sensitive when I touched it.
In the days following, my skin looked radiant and felt very smooth. I did experience some light flaking, mostly around my chin and forehead. It wasn't the kind of peeling that kept me from going about my day, but it was noticeable.
Your experience may vary depending on your skin and how it responds to the treatment. Your provider should also give you specific instructions for what products to use—and avoid—in the days following your appointment.
When Will You See PRX Results?
One of the things I noticed quickly was the glow. In the days after my first treatment, my skin looked brighter and more radiant and felt smoother.
While you may notice an improvement after one treatment, PRX is generally performed as a series when the goal is to achieve more significant or lasting improvement in skin texture, tone and firmness.
How Many PRX Treatments Do You Need?
The recommended course is typically four treatments spaced one week apart.

Results last three to six months, the time it takes to see results of collagen production.

My Experience With PRX
I tried PRX at Blue Water Spa in Oyster Bay because I was intrigued by the promise of brighter, smoother-looking skin without the downtime of a traditional peel.
The treatment itself was quick—about 15 to 20 minutes—but I definitely felt it. My skin became red during the treatment and had a fiery sensation, although both settled down quickly. By the time I got to my car, the redness had already faded.
At home, my skin had a noticeable sheen and felt sensitive to the touch. Over the next few days, it looked radiant and felt incredibly smooth. I did get some light flaking on my chin and forehead, but it was minor and didn't bother me.
I was scheduled to continue with a series of treatments, with the next one planned for a week later.

If you're looking for a treatment that gives skin an immediate glow while working on texture and tone over a series, PRX is an interesting option. It's not completely sensation-free or guaranteed to be completely flake-free, but my first treatment involved very little downtime compared with what you might expect from a TCA-based treatment.
The biggest immediate payoff for me was the glow and smoothness. The longer-term question is what happens after completing the recommended series.
